What is beauty? If one were to conduct a Google search, a myriad of definitions and images would surface, all generally agreeing that beauty is a combination of qualities, typically observed in a physical form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sense of sight. But who has the authority to decide what is beautiful and what is not? If beauty genuinely resides in the eye of the beholder, then the answer is straightforward: YOU are the one who determines what is beautiful to you.
The VIVYD Tru Beauty editorial is an intricately designed project aimed at celebrating the unique beauty that resides within each of us. The theme centers on the principles of self-love, self-awareness, confidence, empowerment, and the liberation of positive energy and vibes towards oneself and others.
“This editorial encapsulates the essence of who we are at our core,” asserts Bobby Lee, Editor in Chief of VIVYD Magazine. “From the outset, VIVYD has aligned itself with individuals aspiring to discover the best versions of themselves. Through our imagery, posts, and articles, we aspire to inspire anyone who has ever pondered the question, ‘what if?’”
Why do the women pose in their underwear? The answer is quite simple. Most individuals feel somewhat vulnerable when they are without clothing. In fact, I would argue that the majority of people would feel significantly uncomfortable standing anywhere in their underwear. We viewed this vulnerability as an opportunity to promote strength, self-love, and acceptance by demonstrating to the world that it is perfectly fine to be yourself, that it is acceptable not to resemble the person standing next to you, and that you alone determine the truth of your beauty, not societal norms.
“Everyone is beautiful, regardless of your height, ethnicity, or size. You are beautiful. We wanted to convey that in a shoot featuring multiple individuals and to simply enjoy being ourselves,” explains Bethany Sevek, VIVYD Magazine’s TRU Beauty Editorial Director.
In 2022, VIVYD Creative Director Bethany Sevek assembled seven models from the Pensacola area, showcasing the diversity and range of the models in the region and emphasizing the genuine beauty of diversity. This year, we sought to eliminate the traditional model qualifications and open the editorial to all women in the local Pensacola area. Our goal was to gather an even more diverse group of women for this year’s editorial, and we certainly succeeded!
With the expansion of the TRU Beauty classes this year, we introduced the TRU Beauty Legacy Luncheon and Legacy group shoot. Additionally, we added a themed wardrobe shoot to the schedule. This year’s theme was Greek goddesses.
“We aimed to find a way for all the ladies of TRU Beauty to be involved and sought to continue providing them with our support,” says Margeaux Hardin, VIVYD’s newly appointed editorial director.
The luncheon, sponsored by Cask and Flights, along with the legacy shoot, were held in the Palafox area of Pensacola, FL.
At this juncture, we are delighted to announce the finalists for the 2024 VIVYD Magazine TRU Beauty Editorial.

What is beauty? If we did a Google search, a number of definitions and images will pop up all with the general consensus that beauty is a combination of qualities, in which we identify normally in a physical form that pleases the aesthetic senses, with a concentration or emphasis on the sense of sight. But who determines what is beautiful and what is not? If beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, then the answer to that question is simple…YOU determine what is beautiful to you!
