What is beauty? If we did a Google search, a number of definitions and images will pop up all with the general consensus that beauty is a combination of qualities, in which we identify normally in a physical form that pleases the aesthetic senses, with a concentration or emphasis on the sense of sight. But who determines what is beautiful and what is not? If beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, then the answer to that question is simple…YOU determine what is beautiful to you!
The VIVYD Tru Beauty editorial is a designed project focused on highlighting the individual beauty that all of us have inside. The theme focuses on the concept of self-love, self-awareness, confidence, empowerment, and the emancipation of positive energy and vibes towards each other and yourself.
“This editorial is the embodiment of what we are at core.” VIVYD Magazine Editor in Chief Bobby Lee states. “From the beginning VIVYD has stood with those and hope to empower others seeking to find the best versions of themselves. Through our imagery, post, and our articles we hope to inspire anyone who has the thought of what if.”
So why do the ladies pose in their underwear? That answer is easy. Most people feel a little vulnerable when they are without clothing. In fact, I would say that the majority of the population would feel a lot uncomfortable standing anywhere in their underwear. We looked at this vulnerability as an opportunity to promote strength, self-love, and acceptance by showing the world that it is ok just being yourself, and that it’s ok not to look like the person standing next to you, and that you determine your truth of your beauty not societal norms.
“Everyone is beautiful, and it does not matter what your height, your ethnicity, your size, you are beautiful. We wanted to be able to show that in a shoot with multiple people, and just have fun being ourselves,” says Bethany Sevek, VIVYD Magazine’s TRU Beauty Editorial Director.
In 2022, VIVYD Creative Director, Bethany Sevek brought together seven Pensacola area models demonstrating the diversity and range of the models in the area and to the emphasis on the true beauty of diversity. This year we want to erase the model qualification and open it to all women in the local Pensacola area. We did this in order to potentially gather an even more diverse group of ladies for the editorial this year. And boy did it!
At this time, we are happy to announce our 2023 VIVYD Magazine TRU Beauty Editorial finalists:
Jenny Gracia
Dyricka Tucker
Chrissy Darling
Gavrila Brooks
